The mission of KSLA-TE is to facilitate the professional collaboration of reading professors in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in order to support each other’s research and practice as well as to monitor and to advocate for the certification standards of reading professionals and to influence those standards with current research and practice.
The purposes of the council shall be to improve the preparation and continuing education of teachers of reading, provide a forum for debate and discussion of current issues regarding literacy instruction, promote mutual understanding and cooperation among literacy educators by facilitating communication among its members, stimulate research and disseminate significant investigations and to seek improved competence at all levels of literacy instruction.
